Never ever have only 1 goldfish, it will get lonely and eat itself out of loneliness. Make sure there are NO decorations or little plant things in the tank, your fish will eat these whole and poo a LOT then die out of weight loss. Feed your fish one little flake every day, even skip a few days. They do not need much. You can also sprinkle some pepper on top of the water, this is very good for the fish and also makes them happy. However do not feed them salt, this makes their poo come out very hairy.

Ignore narwhal/ lisa whatever that persons name is. She is spamming a bunch of questions with idiotic answers. Anyway, a variety of food is better then just one. I used to feed hakari goldfish food but cant find it anymore so feed my goldfish something that looks like tiny fruit loops. They also get bugs and algae. Flakes are fine as are pellets and some fresh fruits.

Any kind of goldfish flakes or pellets are fine, plus defrosted frozen peas with the shells removed to help with their digestion once or twice a week. It's always better to give a variety of food, but it's not absolutely essential.
