Ah, I see the reason you can't find it... it's actually called Megazyme Forte (a common switching of the letters that seems to be a knock-off from Enzymatic Therapy's product). I found quite a few hits at http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0oGki.6iCZKeXkAtUtXNyoA?p=megazyme+forte&y=Search&fr=yfp-t-106&fr2=sb-top&sao=1 although it looks like there are several different companies using the name and putting different labels on it. If you're looking for the original Enzymatic Therapy brand, you could probably find that at most health food stores that carry the brand and you may be able to have your local store order some for you as well. Good luck and I hope I helped!

I try to find for you and I found this.... http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1244120959/ref=sr_nr_i_1?ie=UTF8&rs=&keywords=megazyme%20forte&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Amegazyme%20forte%2Ci%3Astripbooks&tag=aor-sale-20 Hope this help

Aren't they high in sodium, cholesterol, and saturated fats? And isn't the bread made from refined grains?

Why is it that when a chinese restaurant has a lower grade on the health inspection, the food tastes better

Why is it that when a chinese restaurant has a lower grade on the health inspection, the food tastes better?
Many Asian, (mostly Dhinese) restaurants have either Bs or Cs on their health inspections, but the lower the grade, the better the food tastes. When I do find one that gets an A, the food's not that great tasting.

All the dead rats and roaches make the MSG's twice the flavor! MMM <3
2 :
They like to put in their "secret Ingredient" . A little dirt goes a long way.
3 :
Maybe they re-use their grease and stuff and don't filter it out or something..that's what kfc does, makes it taste better.
4 :
cause rats are even tastier than kitty cats
5 :
Asian food has more to do with what you add to it than what it is. The meat is unimportant if the flavor comes from the herbs and spices.
6 :
hmm..that is just an odd coincidence?
7 :
sorry but you all do not really want to know their secrete ingredients and the different types of meat.. even though they all taste great. Good luck smile
8 :
I know! I find the same! In a lot of Chinese and Indian restaurants out here, I've noticed that food in a 5 star ranking restaurant is not as tasty as a restaurant that has a lower grade. One reason I can logically think of is that in the so called 'high' grade restaurants, they want to appeal to a variety of people - who can afford their food and who are of various ethnicities - so they try to make food that is liked by people of all cultures - this food is mostly bland - no special spices. But the lower grade have very specific local community they serve so they make food that appeals to the local masses and hence tastes better. Makes sense?? :)
9 :
its the unsanitary things that make the food taste better.
10 :
Yep, I agree, but you should know that those restaurants with the low grades actually deserve them. I attended a inspection one time and when the stove was moved out from the wall, there was a giant dead rat encased in grease. When we were leaving, we stopped at the front door to put on our coats and a rat ran across the top of the inspector's foot. Maybe the reason the food is better is because they may be using cat or rat meat, instead of chicken, its very common. the restaurant was in Oregon, population of 250,000 in the city and the restaurant was the most popular Chinese place in the city. Also I lived in another city a few years before that and the second best Chinese food restaurant there was closed for good, when the inspector found several dead cats in the freezer. All true my friend.
11 :
too busy cooking to be cleaning
12 :
they're too focused in making sure that the food tastes good that they forget to clean their place
13 :
It's because of one very special secret ingredient. =)........ Not that I'm against chinese food or anything, actually Chinese food is my fave food aside from Japanese. Chinese food that really taste good adds Monosodium Glutamate, MSG, which is actually found to be bad for your brain but good for taste. Yumyum =P

Can a registered nurse who owns a health food store practice medicine without a license

Can a registered nurse who owns a health food store practice medicine without a license?
She takes blood tests and prescribes herbs and treatments. She also does other testings.
Alternative Medicine - 8 Answers

1 :
well if she is a registered nurse, but if she let her license go)meaning she didnt keep it active, then NO she cant, im not even sure if she was licensed if she could do what she is doing, the health department or FDA needs ta step in somewhere
2 :
Can you drive without a drivers liscense? It would also depend on what you mean by medicine. There is nothing wrong with taking and telling people what their blood pressure means. And if the remedy's are all natural they are a recommendation and not a prescription. You said health food store so i am assuming they are all natural. Sounds like the lady is just trying to help people.
3 :
if I were you i would check with your state's health dpt, medical board, nursing board, secretary of health or whatever equivalent they have in your state. why you asking US?
4 :
1/ you have to find out what kind of registered nurse she is first. 2/ what is she practicing; what kind of tests she did for paitents 3/ what kind of prescription she hand out then you will know whether she is doing something illegal to her profession. I believe if she is a real reg nurse, she has a code of ethic to adhere to. Find out that from the ( her nurse Association) where???) She might acturally be doing things within her prof capability and would not have to be against the law. Please find out more then we can discuss more. She might be just advising people with good intention, I hope, and NOT prescribing, is it ??? I am not exactly sure """" the treatment """" word, what is meant by treatment???? a massage?? physiotherapy ???? what ???Good luck.
5 :
You need a license to practice medicine, but not for suggesting supplements. Anybody can "recommend" you try something! As long as she is not prescribing anything alternative, she's okay. But she can suggest or recommend you try this or that.
6 :
If, she is a Nurse Practitioner working with a doctor, she can practice medicine without a license provided she is De greed, Certified and Whit current registration in the appropriate field. Ditto if she has the same credentials in Alternative medicine and or Herbalistic Medicine, from an accredited university--so yeah ... she can do that too! On a few technicalities anybody can suggest anything provided they include the statement But you should really see your doctor and don't take my word on it--BTW ... I hope everyone on YAHOO 360 realizes this. I have answered many many health questions and some of them have been so minor, I felt, it would be OK--Mostly I refer them to a doctor or ask them to give more details about history of symptoms and general health etc ... .
7 :
In some states, yes.
8 :
It sounds like she is practising natural medicine rather than allopathic medicine. They are totally different - the training requirements are different (in Australia, naturopathy is a 3 year course, whereas to become a doctor is a minimum of 7 years of study). As someone who is part way through natural medicine studies, what she is doing is no different to what we are trained to do as natural therapists. it's certainly not medicine in the orthodox / allopathic sense. It would be hard to imagine that someone would be capable of doing those various tests and having a knowledge of treatments without having studied it

Can we still eat and live "green" without going to a health food store

Can we still eat and live "green" without going to a health food store?
Can we just go to a regular retail store? Can you give me some tips?
Green Living - 10 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Of course, you can. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Proctor and Gamble and several other companies are now exploiting the need of those who think they need to be green by making cleaning products that are "environmentally friendly"
2 :
Organtic foods are easy to find in regular retail stores.
3 :
shop the farmers market, or grow your own. many grocery store do have organic vegetables, ans well as canned organic products.
4 :
go to regular stores and buy things produce locally .. if not locally then very close. if you cant.. then dont drive to the store, grab your bike or walk. what matters is to avoid foods that require too much transportation or too much energy when processed. if you canĂ‚´t go green on food, you can go green on transport or in toher aspects. in the u.s is very difficult to be totally green, so y apreciate your effort, just keep going at it and sooner or alter youll find more ways.
5 :
If you want to live green, go live in the forest. The house you live in was made with trees. If you live in a house then you are a hypocrite. You should be in the woods, no power (causes warming) and use leaves to wipe yourself.
6 :
Sure, just go buy regular groceries like you always have and cook them in a microwave oven instead of a conventional oven that has to preheat for 30 minutes, then discharge its heat out into the house as it cools off, thus making the air conditioning run more. And when you drive to the store, drive UNDER the speed limit instead of making jackrabbit starts.
7 :
Grown your own produce! Buy vegetable seeds from you local garden centre, sow the seeds in potting compost in seed trays or pots, make sure you do this in season it will say when on the packet! Or if your too lazy to do that you could buy small vegetable plants and put them straight in the ground in your garden, or use an allotment if you don't have space. if you water regularly and use fertiliser and environmentally-friendly pest control methods you should get a good crop, this is a very green way to live and there is no carbon footprint like when buying vegetables from the store where they have often been transported long distances. Plus what you grow tastes better than store bought because it is absolutely fresh and the satisfaction of growing it yourself.
8 :
It's getting easier everyday. For me the 3 concerns about food are how far it has traveled, what chemicals were used to produce it and how much packaging it's in. I buy organic whenever possible, if you find that it isn't in your budget to go completely organic, there are a few areas that you should prioritize. I avoid hormones and steroids in meat and dairy products, organic certification means they can't use either. As far as produce I've read the thinner the skin the more likely to have pestide residue. The price of orgaincs seems to be coming down as the market grows, and some items are near the same price as conventionally grown items. Food miles. I buy what is in season and grown locally as much as possible. I do most of my shopping at a framers market, but when I do shop in the store I look for local produce, at least grown in the USA. That applies to canned and frozen as well. Grocery stores are getting better about labeling origins for foods. If you have a choice of tomatoes canned in CA or Mexico, chose the location that is closer. Reduced packaging. Packaging has 2 negative impacts, the first is obvious, more waste, the second is packaging can hide quality. Have you ever purchased a beautiful red steak only to take it home and find that it is brown on the underside. Meat is routinely repackaged to hide age. The meat is still ok to eat, but is less appealing. I buy from the butcher counter, it helps me avoid that styrofoam container and I'm hoping the butcher paper is more eco friendly. I also make sure my bread is not double packaged. Why 2 layers of plastic? I buy many items on the bulk aisle, I have reusable bags, so there is no packaging. Single serving containers rarely make it into my house. I buy loose veggies, no bags of potatoes, plastic containers of tomatoes or mushrooms. If you have school age children, invest in a zero waste lunch box. You will save money by not buying single serving food items and if your children don't throw away what they don't eat, you will be more aware of what they eat and what they don't. I've seen kids toss out everything but the chips, if there parents new that was what was happening, they would likely try to find something there kid will eat. Another green concept at the grocery store is only buy what you need. Supersizing items is only cost effective if you are able to use the items before they go bad. Another benifit of the butcher counter, we are a family of 3, I don't have to get a roast what will give me left overs, that won't be eaten. Don't forget recyled content paper products, things like toitlet paper, napkins and paper towels. I have also stopped buying disposable plates for outdoor use. I invested in a plastic set that should last me for years.
9 :
There is no such thing as organic any more the pollution that goes around the earth everyday keeps it from being truly healthy. We consume foods full of benzene's and toluene that are put out from jet aircraft and we breath and swallow this if you would like to find out a way to help the environment Google Jim Starry and see a person who has the solutions that will save the planet within 10 years we are working on the O'Hara airport expansion that will save 1 million gallons of fuel a day that will help our dependency on foreign fuel lets be realistic we are a society that uses fossil fuels I truly live green as possible my home is made of unrecyclable material and we use solar power and wind generation to have lights and power to run everything it works if I can do it any one can I am blessed to live where alot of people are like myself in Crestone Colorado we live like this so our children see us doing this and maybe they will do the same but not everyone is doing this in America so we need to increase the awareness and tell more people about how to do it
10 :
Absolutely. Eat vegetarian and vegan foods (preferably not the heavily packaged ones). Organic food is becoming common even in regular supermarkets

Does anyone else think it's wierd that my health food store sells corn syrup

Does anyone else think it's wierd that my health food store sells corn syrup?
We don't use corn syrup in Australia & I have seen a lot of American pie recipes that call for it, because it was in the health food store I assumed it was a healthy alternative to sugar syrup. (silly me) Does anyone else think it's a bit strange that a health food store would stock corn syrup?
Cooking & Recipes - 2 Answers

1 :
Some people thing corn syrup is a healthy alternative. Its not. It just like sugar. I'm diabetic and learned this a long time ago. What is healthy is agave syrup. Its made from the same plant that is used in the making of tequila. I've used it a few time sin baking. You have to adjust the baking time and has a slight after taste. But, over all it not bad.

2 :
Corn syrup is of itself, healthy. It is corn. We eat corn. Dietitians and doctors are upset with the food industry for putting it in everything packaged , even foods that normally do not contain sugar. We eat too much of it. I picked up pizza rolls from the frozen food section, and read the ingredients. It had four kinds of sugar listed. I put them back. Diabetics can eat it, but as part of their total caloric intake for the day, as they would with cane or beet sugar. And with the same rules, never sugar by itself, always with something else to slow down the body from slurping it up. Corn syrup can raise blood sugars in the same way as other sugars. Corn syrup is a easy way to get sugar into something, no melting or heating necessary, that has already been done for you. So not, it is not a surprise that it is in a health food store. Mine sells unprocessed cane sugar, raw sugar, and honey. It is still all sugar, all carbohydrates. Pecan pie has corn syrup, and is notorious for its high calorie content
