If america gets universal health care will the government demand better food habits

If america gets universal health care will the government demand better food habits?
I was told if the government gets health care they wont want to pay for fat people. Would this hurt fast food

We should be like the "Caves of Steel", then we can all eat at government run kitchens. Might as well carry the nanny state to it's logical conclusion.
2 :
They can't demand better food habits, but they can certainly promote healthier lifestyles.
3 :
They also may not treat your parents if they're over a certain age and don't meet Dictator Obama's standards for a "quality of life."
4 :
Every other developed nation has some kind of universal health care. Do ANY of them ban fast foods? No. Some pass laws to make healthy foods more attractive, to break the grip that fast-food has in the US. For instance mandating certain benefits for fast-food workers, or raising the minimum wage, or subsidizing farmers. None of them ban unhealthy foods, or refuse help to fat people.
5 :
National health care will essentially put the government in control - and that's not much wiggle room or gray areas in the word "control."
6 :
They will need to in order to avoid bankrupting the country with obesity-related illnesses.
7 :
Fast food, soft drinks, junk food will all be taxed. And I would about bet salt, coffee, tea and alcohol would also be taxed along with anything else they think is "bad" for you.
8 :
Thanks to Obama and the Democrats, you can look forward to the government micro-managing what you eat, how much you exercise, basically everything. It's the first step toward a socialist state.
9 :
It's uh, not happening, they finished health care reform, no universal health care.
10 :
The only way they can "demand" better food habits is through taxes on junk food, fast food, soda, etc. A lot of people think this is controversial, but we've been taxing cigarettes for years because we know it leads to lung cancer, just like we know junk food leads to obesity. Well, I can't find an ingredients list for this food. All the websites I looked at were more interested in telling you how great that veterinarian is. Sorry, I don't take "hype" at face value, and neither should you

what should one do while demo for health inspector and food technolog people

what should one do while demo for health inspector and food technolog people?
I was told to bring my recipes for evaluation of calorie, fiber, fat etc to the facilities where i have a trial batch at their commercial kitchen and of course there is a health inspector while i demo the cooking. I understand this procedures before my snack is out in the market. Do i have to reveal the lb and ounces of every items i use in making the snack? Can they just use the finished product i demo to them? I understand i have to give them detail of what ingredients which is not a problem but....the how much weight does one ingredient i need to put on to reveal is my concern. Is this how it goes you had to reveal the secret recipe instead of the ingredients only. Also anyone know if i can make sure that who ever present not copy my recipe. Thank you.

Most commercial kitchens , if they are producing the product for you will have a non-disclosure clause in the contract. That means only a few people have the recipe, and there are penalties if they tell anyone. The nutrition information is probably calculated acording to the ingredients, rather than actually analysed from the product. If its calculated they need the recipe, including quantities . Again, the health inspector shouldnt need that , and in the USA is under rules of conduct about discussing what he sees in one place with anyone else. You might be best to have a lawyer for advice. If you are demonstrating a product the recipe should remain confidential to yourself only

I go to the movies a lot. I am into health food and this is when I mess up. I need suggestions of things

I go to the movies a lot. I am into health food and this is when I mess up. I need suggestions of things?
that I can sneak into the movies (have a huge purse).. Please try to fit your answers somewhat within these guidelines (1-4) listed below. so 1. must be nutritious 2.I usually am starving from not eating all day, so it must be filling. 3. I also have to do it fairly cheaply. This is when I mess up..in a hurry, leaving spur of moment..starving..easy to grab chips or something. 4. also need suggestions --How about things I can make a head and easlly grab if someone calls to go spur of the moment. Thanks.. to chechk--haha--well, it's not that I can't afford to eat all day..it's a bad habit I have and we usually go to the dollar theatre. Dry popcorn is actually not that bad for you and is fairly filling.
2 :
Nuts/Peanuts bag of Trail Mix Wheat Crunch sandwich (peanut butter & bananas is one of my faves) fruit Hope this helped !!! :)
3 :
rent the movie since you can't afford to eat all day. save the ten bucks.
4 :
How about geting yourself some fresh fruit or fresh raw vegetables such as baby carrots that way you can stay healthy or even make yourself from time to time a chef salad.
5 :
trail mix bars or oatmeal bars :)
6 :
Little cherry tomatoes. They look expensive, but think about it, a large popcorn and drink cost about ten bucks. Ten bucks worth of cherry tomatoes are good, and they fill you up, provide all kinds of nutrients, bla bla bla. Then for your sweet tooth, put a bag of sugar free sour candy in your car for easy access. Remember, if you eat too many of the sugar free candy, it acts as a laxative with the stomach ache first. So, just thtink, nearly a calorie free movie day. But hten again, if you really want to do it right, don't skip meals. But that would take the fun out of it. Another idea: Pretzels in a bag. Or do all three. ANother idea, take along three packs of gum. hew one piece at a time. Your jaw will be sore afterward, but it burns calories. You know, chewing. Eat an apple before you go. It will make you not crave so much. I go to tthe movies just for the popcorn, so these are ideas I would not swear by myself. I am a brainstormer. Good luck. PS why not just splurge once in a while, eat right any other day? Unless you think it is a rip off so spend so much.
7 :
Granola or cereal bars. Bottled water. Packets of Crystal Light, etc. if you like. Air-popped popcorn. Bagel chips. Carrot/celery sticks. Crackers and cheese or peanut butter. Fruit - apple slices, grapes, peach/nectarine slices. Pretzels. Sandwich. If you can fit it in a zip lock bag then you can likely get it into the movies.
8 :
sorry, there is nothing to eat that is healthy to eat in the movies, sneak in a couple of granola bars and get bottled water. Go to a nice place to eat afterwards with a hot date.
9 :
oooh! pack some ants on a log, celery wit peanut butter and raisons in a tupperwear or plastic bag, filling and very tasty. plain fruits and veggies are sometimes not very good-starving and on the go- foods because they ar low in calories, making them light, and not very filling

definetly get on prenetal vitamins (you can get a prescription) and Fruits, vegetables, good servings of meat and cheeses. STAY AWAY FROM SOFT CHEESES and make sure to stay far away from things like hot dogs or meats that could be undercooked, which can put you at risk for lysteriosis, google it. There is information online for pregnant mothers who have questions about foods. Make sure to get plenty of calcium.

Stay away from fish with high levels of mercury. Stay away from cold-cut meat. No soda (except ginger ale). Everything else should be alright. You must take your vitamins! Good luck!

Is it bad for a cat's health if you only feed them dry cat food

Is it bad for a cat's health if you only feed them dry cat food?
I only give my cat dry food. She seems to vomit very often when given wet food. Yes, I took her to the vet and she is in fine health.
Cats - 11 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
if you give them dry food make sure they drink plently of water. other than that it should be fine.
2 :
No it's fine.
3 :
Yes dry food is perfectly fine.
4 :
There is nothing wrong with giving cats only dry food. Actually some vets say it is better for cats than wet food as it is better for their teeth.
5 :
Yes providing that the biscuits are a complete food. If you are buying biscuits from local supermarkets anything stated as premuim and upwards will contain tarine which unlike dogs is why cats are obligated carnivores (tarine is only found in meat). If its a product such as Advance, Royal Canin etc these are very complete foods and can be given on its own but more water is required to be given. Note: regardless of goodness biscuits usually hold more carbs so keep to feed charts.
6 :
In regards to the vomiting...have you thought about the brand that you have your cat on? It could be that their stomach does not tolerate the wet food because of the brand. I only say this because my kittens have hard time digesting anything but Fancy Feast made purley for kittens. However, my older cat only can eat certain foods which I think is good for them because than they get a better source of nutrition. A lot of the dry foods and wet foods are nothing but fillers meaning they will keep your kitty full but all in all will not be good for your pet, Science diet is one of them. I would try Kit-and-Kabootle made by purina, and if you want to mix a little wet food in with his/her food it wouldn't hurt just don't give it to he/she all the time because it tends to rot out teeth.
7 :
Cats are carnivores - nature designed them to eat meat (as in raw prey) and not dry kibbles. Those were created for our convenience, and not for the health of our cats. Dry food is now linked to such feline disorders as obesity, diabetes, constipation, urinary tract disorders, and kidney disease. Dry food does not clean the teeth - look at your cats teeth - there are NO flat chewing surfaces, they are designed to rip meat, and not to chew. Vets who've actually continued their education, and vets newly out of school now recommend either an all-canned diet, or at least one canned meal a day. They need to moisture provided by the canned food, and they do not need all the carbohydrates that are present in the dry (leading to the diabetes and obesity). Adding one canned meal a day will save you vet bills in the future for illnesses that can be avoided by proper diet.
8 :
In the best case scenario, you would prepare a diet for your cat which resembles closely the sorts of things cats eat in the wild: fresh meat, in the form of chicken or rabbit, including organs and fat, and very small amounts of grain. However, you may not have the time and inclination to do so, and there are some very acceptable alternatives in the form of premium brands of canned cat foods. See my article on Canned Cat Food for more information on the virtues of canned vs dry foods for cats. On the other hand, if you have long working hours, and there is no one staying at home to feed the cats, you may also have to supplement with dry food left down for "grazing," during your absence. There are also automatic feeding devices, some of which have refrigerated units which are capable of opening cans with a built-in timer. Be sure to provide plenty of fresh water for your cat when feeding dry foods. He will need the extra moisture he would normally get in canned food. Automatic water dispensers are excellent for this purpose. I hope this information is helpful Good Luck!
9 :
I have only ever fed my cats dry food and they are all very healthy and happy. The dry food is better for their teeth, as it helps to scrub away plaque and other nasties.
10 :
Dry food is the best its also good for their teeth wet food should only be given once in a while as a treat.
11 :
Is it bad for their health. Yes. Just as it is bad for your health if you eat cookies. You could probably eat nothing but cookies for quite a long time before your health showed up as anything but "fine" in standard health tests. It does not mean you are living your most healthy life. Dry food does have SOME nutriants and despite the claims of being "complete and balanced" (those tests are done for 6 months and if only a small number of the cats die in that time then they figure it is ok) it is too full of junk and not full enough of the things cats do need to remain optimally healthy. People who recommend dry food (both lay people and vets) are very behind in their reading and not up to date on the latest research. Start with http://www.catinfo.org a website run by a vet who studies feline nutrition. She has links on her pages to other vets who also study feline nutrition. If you prefer your information in hard copy, start with "Your Cat" by Dr. Elizabeth Hodgkins. Cats learn when they are kittens which foods are acceptable at their mother's side. If she deams it worthy to be eaten, they eat it. Anything she didn't bring them, they don't recongnize as food and it is going to take a lot of work to help the cat adjust. Their digestive systems also modify to the foods they are eating, so when something novel is introduced, their bodies immediately react to it. If they are not used to it, they vomit or have diarrhea. It is just how the cat has been designed to work to protect itself. If you are interested in getting her on a better diet then you will want to slowly introduce the new foods, feeding 20-25% new food to 80-75% old food for a few weeks, then slowly increase the new food and decrease the old. Just about every cat can be transitioned on to a healthier food if you are committed to helping her out

Why do illegals think its legal to stay in america and get free health care and food and housing

Why do illegals think its legal to stay in america and get free health care and food and housing?
and when they are kicked out of America they still think they have rights and protest? I know some of you Illegals supporters will get this question deleted. But I really want to know why do they really think its legal? Hey Greesy, My town i live in is just 15 mintues outside of chicago, and i can tell you there are so many illegals living here,,and they all complain that they don't have enough for food stamps, or cash asstanice, and NONE of them have jobs. So don't tell me to educate my slef when i am living smack in the middle of a bunch of illegals and hearing it first hand. So I have every right to ask a question as to why they think its legal.. just like your answer is a rant so don't give me that. some of these illegals get checks sent to them of 600.00 or MORE for a family of 4...I HAVE seen it first hand and she was showing it off..it ticks me off that I live in America my whole life and went to college and worked my butt off so Juan can have better health care than my family and handed money to them on a silver platter. and Obama wants to make 12 million more of them legal.. if you think its hard to find a job now just wait DIRTY yes I do know these people the live across the street from me, and next door to me and behind me. I talk to them all the time AND don't tell me I am wrong. Until you live where they live and talk to them and have conversations with them and they show off there government check to you that YOU pay your taxes on you can't say squat. You only go by what the media has to say, they don't live next to illegals and hear them complain how bad they have it. They talk about how they want some more of there family members here in the United States... until you live where they live like i do you can't say sh*t

becuz Mexico ain't givin them squat
2 :
I don't think they are so disillusioned as to think that it's legal, they just think that a better life is worth fighting for.
3 :
because our country allow them to do so.
4 :
Because there are a lot of politicians who 'look the other way' and do not enforce the deportation laws.
5 :
Anyone that would break laws and then whine about being penalized for doing so can not be that intelligent. They are moochers and they will mooch in whatever way they can.
6 :
I don't think they "think it's legal"- they just don't care if it's wrong
7 :
Illegals should be entitled to nothing in this country except a good kick in the as$ on the way to deportation.
8 :
Ignorance, maybe they assume if they get a job then they become Americans. The job situation is so bad now that even illegals are leaving and going home.
9 :
Because they don't know why just the fact to be born in America should give a human being much better chances in their life than the ones from many other countries have.
10 :
They don't care if it's legal or not, they only care that they can and will get it. And as long as they can get it they will take it.
11 :
They don't! because they can't! .....that's just an assumption not true facts. Illegal immigrants are banned from almost anything the Government provides. Please educate yourself on the issue before ranting! http://americanaffairs.suite101.com/article.cfm/undocumented_assumptions Illegal Immigrants and Benefits It’s a widely held misperceptions: Undocumented immigrants pay no taxes but take advantage of a slew of taxpayer-supported federal benefits such as food stamps, Medicaid and Medicare (the health care programs for the poor and the elderly), Social Security, housing and hospital services. In fact, federal law bars undocumented alien access to all those benefits, with very few exceptions. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1838865/posts Immigration and Welfare Heritage Foundation's Robert Rector, who argues in a new study that "the average lifetime costs to the taxpayer will be $1.1 million" for each low-skilled immigrant household. Hispanic immigrants and their families are a net national drain, he says, because they "assimilate into welfare." Mr. Rector and Heritage have done some good social science research in the past, but this time they have the story backward: In most cases immigrants will pay at least as much in lifetime federal taxes as they receive in benefits. One basic flaw in the Heritage analysis is that, as a study by the Immigration Policy Center points out: "The vast majority of immigrants are not eligible to receive any of these [welfare] benefits for many years after their arrival in the United States. . . . Legal permanent residents cannot receive SSI [Supplemental Security Income], which is available only to U.S. citizens, and are not eligible for means-tested public benefits until 5 years after receiving their green cards."
12 :
just like Obama's Auntie, who lived in public housing in Boston, for about 4 years, all the while she was in this country illegally, and living off the citizens of Ma..Obama,who claims to be fond of this Aunt was living in his million dollar mansion, guess they didn't have room for Auntie so obie figured the taxpayers should carry her.I did see her at the inauguration right there with her devoted nephew so she's still in the U.S.,maybe she's living in your state now and your tax dollars are supporting her?
13 :
I find it interesting how illegals know all about the laws here but say in Mexico they are not out there in the streets protesting about anything but in America they demand a lot, feel entitlements are theirs as well since fake or stolen documents paid taxes. Two wrongs do not make a right. If you figure that the children of illegal immigrants attending K-12 schools approximates the proportion of illegal immigrants in the population, the bill currently comes to roughly $4 billion. Most is state money; some local property taxes. * Illegal immigrants aren't entitled to welfare, called CalWORKs. But their citizen children are. Roughly 190,000 kids are receiving welfare checks that pass through their parents. The cost: about $500 million, according to the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst's Office. Schwarzenegger has proposed removing these children from the welfare rolls after five years. It's part of a broader proposal to also boot off, after five years, the children of U.S. citizens who aren't meeting federal work requirements. There'd be a combined savings of $522 million. * The state is spending $775 million on Medi-Cal healthcare for illegal immigrants, according to the legislative analyst. Of that, $642 million goes into direct benefits. Practically all the rest is paid to counties to administer the program. The feds generally match the state dollar-for-dollar on mandatory programs. So-called emergency services are the biggest state cost: $536 million. Prenatal care is $59 million. Not counted in the overall total is the cost of baby delivery -- $108 million -- because the newborns aren't illegal immigrants. The state also pays $47 million for programs that Washington does not require: Non-emergency care (breast and cervical cancer treatment), $25 million; long-term nursing home care, $19 million; abortions, $3 million. Schwarzenegger has proposed requiring illegal immigrants to requalify every month for Medi-Cal benefits, except pregnancy-related emergencies. There also are other taxpayer costs -- especially through local governments -- but those are the biggies for the state. Add them all up and the state spends well over $5 billion a year on illegal immigrants and their families. Of course, illegal immigrants do pay state taxes. But no way do they pay enough to replenish what they're drawing in services. Their main revenue contribution would be the sales tax, but they can't afford to be big consumers, and food and prescription drugs are exempt. http://www.latimes.com/news/columnists/l...
14 :
eaters and breeders don't care they know that the American Government will look the other way .So of course they have it made the men can have a little woman here and babies that they don't have to take care of because us tax payers are doing that for them.More time for them to hang out outside and drink beer from that days work. Its the good life to them to bad us tax payers don't have this luxury.
15 :
I really don't think illegals get free health care and food and housing. They have to work for it like everybody else. Yeah they might be illegal and I think that its wrong to come here illegally. But there's nothing that can be done. Instead of trying to be legalized its faster and easier to come over here illegally and have a better life than where the country they came from.
16 :
Because they can. Anytime anybody can get something for free they'll keep whining to get more.
17 :
Their chicken, corrupt government (and MALDEF and LaRaza) tells them that and since most only have a 5th grade education they don't know any better. They are being used to re-claim land. No one wants to live anywhere that they have destroyed.
18 :
I have the feeling that you have THE LAW genetically built in your cells. Some people don't care so much about a piece of paper written by people like ourselves Maybe the word "ilegal" does not cross thorough their minds, plain and simple
19 :
if your government is stupid enough to give it to them then they will just keep coming
20 :
Because you are wrong. You don't know if those people are really illegal. Just because they look illegal to you doesn't make them to be like that. Illegals can't get those benefits, so that is the first thing you should know
