How to convince the family to get into health food

How to convince the family to get into health food?
I think healthier food would be better for the health of all of my family members. How can I convince them to stop buying junk?

y dont u start eating healthy food and they will follow ur lead
2 :
Good Luck.....Show them proof....
3 :
you should do all of the grocery shopping and just buy healthy food. that way they have no choice but to eat it. hahaha. jk. well thats what i would do.
4 :
Yes, many experts agree that healthy food is good for health..... :) Show them the studies in Heart Disease, Diabetes and Obesity. Show them pictures of clogged arteries or skin problems associated with diabetes.
5 :
tell them that they are fat
6 :
Are they fat? If not, just let them eat what they want(within reason) And just eat right and DON'T tell them to eat what you do, they might try it on their own.
7 :
Start not serving it at home. If you have plenty of fruits and tell them not to buy junk, they might eat fruit. Let them have a little junk. Slowly demolish it from their taste buds. Get them to like fruit. It does taste better. It will take about four months if they are cooperative to completely make them fruities.
8 :
By example. Buy healthy food yourself & leave some of it out on the counter. And wait. They will eventually flock to it if it has good flavor.
9 :
tell them there gett a lil soft around the edgers.
10 :
Write up a food chart and make junk food as a treat. thats if you have little siblings or if u have children.... but ino lot of familys that are grown up and have a chart it worked out really good so give it a try, hope i helped xxxxx

I was able to get my nephews into eating healthier foods by using non msg seasonings and olive oil. They were really surprised the food tasted so good just by adding seasonings without salt. They insisted on having the salt and pepper on the table the first time they tried it and they hated to admit that they didnt need to use the salt at all on their food. Now they are always looking in the seasonings aisle at the store to find new and better stuff to try. They do still eat some junk (couldnt get them to stay away from it totally) but at least they are willing now to try things that are healthier for them

its funny i ran across this question. my son just ask me last nite if i would do the same with him . we plan on going to the grocery store together so that we can pick out what we want to eat , healthy, and less meat. he really enjoys salads so we are going to go that route, salads , veggies, etc.. good luck

As a general rule, preaching is a bad way to get people to see your side. Of course healthy food is a better diet than junk stuff but it is still a personal decision that your family should make on their own. First, you should do your own cooking to either demonstrate that it is tasty and easy, or that your health has improved since you started cooking with organic or healthy stuff. Be prepared to pay for this food too because it is quite expensive to eat properly. A friendlier and less holier-than-thou approach is to suggest a fun and new dinner meal just to try something different. Instead of saying "hey, stop eating junk and eat what I think is best" say "hey, I think it would be fun to eat something new just for a change, wanna help me cook?" and then organize a kitchen adventure with whomever is willing to help. If no one is up to it don't get discouraged, cook your meal and offer to share. Buy a few healthy snacks and keep them as an option. Healthy oatmeal cookies next to the oreo cookies, buy fruit and keep it in sight. Eat them often and offer them to your family. It might take more than one attempt to get them interested but if they get used to having healthier food around they will slowly change their diet. If they still want to eat some junk it will be okay, as long as they try new stuff and balance things out. Never ever suggest to your loved ones that they are either fat or dumb for not eating the way you would like them to eat.

Twiggy, this is such a simple answer but you've got to trust me it's the only way. First of all, people DO NOT like to be told what to do or how to do things. You must - Lead by Example. The idea is, that by showing them YOUR habits, that they'll pick up on them and make them theirs. Don't show them that your judging them. Don't tell them that the way they eat is bad. Let them come to you by eating the way you do around them. I guarantee they'll start asking questions and that's when you can start educating them with the answers. They may make fun of you or make rude remarks but that's a small price to pay for the benefit of health. It's a lot easier to convince people of doing things if you assure them that they're in control. Let them be the ones that experiment. Plus, don't forget that people have to want to change for themselves and not others. It may take time, so be patient. Some people change slower than others. Good luck!

they might think its just a 'fase' you are going through - so to make them believe you are serious get started on it first and hold it for a few months then with out demanding a sudden change ask if you could cook a meal once - make it healthy then upgrade it to once a week then soon they will need to get the healthy ingredience and they may start to like it too and then that might develop into a routine slowly - but you can ask someone to make a big change all of a sudden if they didnt expect themseves to - you kinda gotta be sneeky - if you catch my drift

You can't. I've been trying for over 30 years to get my kids and grandkids to eat healthy. When they lived at home I served healthy, really tasty meals and they just ate junk food when they went someplace else. Now all 4 adult kids have the worst diets, are over weight and have health problems. Half my grandkids follow their parents example and half actually make their own healthy meals. Get some good advice on how to take the junk food out of the food your family eats at home and make your own meals.

I just fell in love with a health food store! What do you buy when you go to a health food store

I just fell in love with a health food store! What do you buy when you go to a health food store?
What are your regular/favorite items to get at your local health food store? I just went for the first time a couple of days ago and I want to go again! Yes, it's expensive, but OMG I feel better when I eat healthy! It makes a world of difference!

our local health food store so far only has process elements in it.. which aren't very healthy... in all my years i could never understand why they call them 'health' food stores. if i want health foods, i go to the local grocer's produce section and get fresh fruits and veggies.
2 :
The one I like going to has a peanut butter making machine....you buy the nuts..and then put it in the machine and make peanut butter...thats what I do :D Besides that, I just get all my other healthy stuff from my local grocery store....they've got a large organic section. It does feel awesome when you look at the ingrediants in a bag of frozen french fries and see "Ingredients: potatoes, salt." ....instead of like 1000000 things. I feel much healthier too when I eat stuff like that :) (even if salt is bad for you..but..eh, you get my point)

vitamin water fruits veggies

health food

health food ???
Why are healthy, natural foods such as veggies and fruits so damn expensive, but the super fattenening burgers and fries are on the dollar menu??? If you are not near home and it's lunch time. You figure you'll run through Mcd's drive thru and a salad is $5 but a double cheeseburger is only a dollar. Or you call up a local family restaurant and ask how much a salad is...$7 for a salad. Yet a burger and fries is only $4. WHY IS THIS???? I mean if the majority of Americans are overweight, why shouldn't the food industry lower the price of healthy choices???

burgers, chicken nuggets, fries.... alll mass produced out of gross parts of animals and frozen. they keep for forever and are cheap to make. salad ingredients need to be fresh AND look fresh, no one wants wilted or browing lettuce, plus none of that stuff keeps for very long, they probably waste alot.
2 :
good point you have just made, human just killing ourselves. we have plenty vigitables and just we are losing the skill of cooking them, i think developing countries have better eating habit than us. pathetic.
3 :
There is actually a valid reason, but it sucks. The government subsidises the meat and poultry industry, giving HUGE grants to farms that torture and kill animals for food, but they DO NOT give grants to organic or vegetable farmers! It outrageous to me, that a pound of beef costs less than a pint of fresh raspberries. The government seams to think that it is perfectly normal to eat animals, but veggies arent worth subsidizing. I am so tired of having to pay the big bucks just to eat healthy. The FDA thinks its fine to eat the preserved, chemical laden stuff, but aims to punish us that want lovely fresh fruit and veggies-especially ones that have not been sprayed with boatloads of pesticide. It shocking! THe veggie farmers have to charge more, because they cant rely on the government for financial aid-its all independant. The government also buys up surpluss meat and dairy, that is on the verge of going bad, and distributes it to nursing homes, prisons and school lunchrooms-in that order. SO that means the school lunch food is at the very bottom of the food chain.

Because usually the fattening stuff has SOME kind of corn product in it (high fructose corn syrup, corn oil, hydrolized corn fat) and anything to do with corn is subsidized by the federal government, therefore cheaper to purchase for the people making the food---the highest profit is their motive, they really don't care if you drop dead tomorrow, there will be some other customer to take your place. Take charge of your health and healthy eating yourself, always read labels, be careful in your choices....pay the extra amount, if you want to live a full, healthy life...

Anyone know where to find good health food stores in Singapore

Anyone know where to find good health food stores in Singapore?
I need a place to buy organic cocoa butter, oils, and other organic, natural products. So far all the places I have been to that call themselves health food stores are supplement shops (pills and crap). Thanks.

I am also into organic food. There are so many stores in Singapore. I don't know which area u are at. So I would suggest NTUC. As there are NTUC everywhere. I would purchase my rice milk, dry apple snacks, buckwheat or some nuts.(all organic) at some shops. If am at NTUC, I will buy it there. There is a shop whereby I got the best Coconut oil and Probiotic juice in Singapore. The address is at Block 532 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10. The shop name is Faith Hope Agape. It is actually a alternative clinic. The lady helped my mum live another 10 years as my mum got cancer. They are into homeopathy and chinese medical. I got a lot of good products that helped my asthma too. but the thing is I need to make appointment as they are seldom in opened as a lot of their customers love home visit. Of cos charge more. At times I feel lazy to go down, I will ask for delivery from them too. Very nice kind lady. Perhaps u can look for them and next time u don't need to go shop for your stuffs. Just call for delivery. Hee.... easier for u cos I also don't like people to introduce me tons of pills.

Try NTUC Finest or some big cold storage..

How much should a health food store supplement manager make

How much should a health food store supplement manager make?
I'm up for a promotion to be the supplement manager at a Mrs.Green's health food store. I am unusually young for the job, and I want to make sure I don't get gipped because of my age. However I have no idea how much I should expect to make. If anybody knows, any info would be very helpful.

$0.75 an hour over what you make now. A Mrs Green's supplement manager isn't one of your high tech careers. Good job though, I'm not knocking it, but McDonald's managers probably make more.

What are my best options for packaging foods to sell to health food stores

What are my best options for packaging foods to sell to health food stores?
I am starting my own business selling prepared foods to health food stores. A number of the things that I want to sell are going to need to be packaged in sealed plastic bags (e.g. flax crackers, etc.). In order to do this, do I need to buy my own sealer as well as the bags? Can I just buy bags with that are already resealable? Can anyone suggest a good source to buy these products from?

Doubt very much if your going to be able to sell to a store. There is laws on how the food has to be and also how it is to be packaged and the kind of label it must have on it. Most stores have orders sent to them from a factory
