if cost is no concern, orijen is by far the best wellness and taste of the wild are solid alternatives. the kirkland signature is basically the same as diamond natural, but at a much better price (must be a costco member). avoid ingredients like corn and grains (brown rice is okay) and avoid beef pulp, which is the cause of a lot of allergic reactions. make sure the first several ingredients are meat. if you really want to cover your bases, adding wild salmon oil will increase brain function and skin condition, as well as adding missing link (don't get the missing link plus until the puppy is 1 year old) avoid iams, purina, pedigree, and science, all of these will do awful things to your dogs digestion and lead to health complications

This is something you can discuss with your vet at your first visit. Remember your dog is a carnivore and most dog foods are corn or other grain based instead of meat. Read the labels and educate yourself.

My dogs like Newman's Own. It costs more, but the money goes to animal shelters, and I trust the ingredients.

natures recipe is the best food. it has no preservatives or artificial flavors and digests well in their systems. when you go to the pet store (if you choose this one) ask them about this Nature's Recipe food because there's different types for different dogs. there is one that's for all dogs of all ages too. its at all pet stores like pet co and petsmart

As more people understand the importance of nutrition to their own health, they're starting to consider what's in their dog's food bowl as well. Food manufacturers are only too happy to oblige, and the latest products are likely to be labeled natural or organic, and include ingredients said to promote health, such as blueberries and salmon oil. That said, it can still be a challenge to sort out high-quality chow from the canine equivalent of junk food. http://dogtime.com/food-nutrition.html

I feed my dog Natures Balance - all natural I also mix in cooked chicken livers. This gives my dogs the need crunch to help keep teeth clean but also gives them the wet that they prefer. I do not feed my dogs any food that comes from a grocery store. There is a great deal of bi-products, meal and sugars in grocery brands that are not good for the dogs. I have 4 dogs 2 of which are pugs (litter mates) that in a 9 month period both were stricken with diabetes and the vet completely believes it was caused because of the grocery (cheap) brand dog foods that I had been feeding them. Using the chicken liver with the dry helps keep down the cost of the expensive natural dog foods, and it has no sugars.

Two key ingredients to stay away from are corn and by-products. Corn is basically used as a filler and is also a big allergen for pups. And by-products... well, as disgusting as this may sound... they can include the heads, feet and intestines. Because you are getting a bully pup and they are more prone to allergies and dry skin, I would also stay away from wheat. Nutro makes a great food. No corn. No by-products. No wheat in their Natural Choice line. Also has the highest levels of fatty acids (your Omega 3's and 6's), which will help keep your puppy's skin and coat healthy. In fact, Nutro is the only food that guarantees healthy skin and coat. With Nutro you will get a human grade food, none of the yucky stuff I mentioned above, a beautiful coat, less shedding, less clean up (which once this baby gets older I am sure you will enjoy), and a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

I feed my guys canidae, but i hear taste of the wild and Ojgen are excellent foods. You want to feed your pup anything that has NO wheat or as little grain as possible. As natural as possible
