Why do some people that smoke eat health food and drink only bottled water? Am I missing something here?
I have to say, I laugh inside when I see smokers worried about their water or food. Drink from the tap and use one less plastic bottle. Drinking filtered water will not prolong your life beyond the time at which you develope lung cancer. I understand the need for some to feel cool and pay $3.00 for a starbucks coffee but the smoker who buys bottled water and organic eggs cracks me up. Smokers please help me understand

Why can't smokers enjoy the taste of bottled water and organic eggs over cloudy tap water and hormone-laced eggs? Do you have a problem with people having a food preference? Drinking filtered water won't prolong anyone's life, but it tastes better than the chlorined, mineral added crap that comes from the tap that you practically have to chew just to swallow it.

These people are usually interested in losing weight and keeping it off, not being healthy. Cigarettes help curve cravings for food and help keep a person's weight down. Not really what they should be thinking about. Losing weight for the numbers not the health benefit is just ridiculous.

i dont smoke everyday once in a while at night clubs but i see your point i dont try to eat like that all the time but for those that do smoke and eat well....well thats just dumb...

just because someone has 1 bad habit doesnt mean they want to put any more crap in their bodies..i understand your point entirely..no different then a fat person drinking diet soda...alot of smokers are addicted to smoking and if they can't quite they at least try to counter the effects by not eating more bad stuff..

I don't get it either, but I have seen it also........ People lighting up as they walk out the door of Whole Foods Mkt. dropping a lot of $$$ on health food.

Um, not everyone who smokes gets lung cancer, or has any ill effects for that matter. That's like saying someone who worked out or ran was wasting his time by eating healthily, just because he drinks more alcohol than the average person, or has a family history of cancer or heart disease or whatever.

What I don't get is people who pump up in the gym, but get pissy drunk three times a week.

Yeah, you've got a point for smokers who plan on smoking throughout their entire life. Even for that group though, if they ate whatever and became obese, then they would have two major health issues, instead of just one. So I guess that really answer's the question. They are risking getting smoking related diseases rather than getting smoking AND weight related diseases. Smoking is becoming less cool as time goes by though and people know it's bad for them. I think the majority of smoker's realize how bad it is for them and intend to quit whenever they manage to muster the will power. To Becca9892003's Response: "No different than a fat person drinking diet soda" So...what? Fat people are supposed to consume as many calories as possible and just keep gaining weight until it kills them? Soda isn't really very good for people in general, but if anyone drinks it, they should avoid consuming empty calories without any nutritional value and drink diet soda, regardless of how much they weigh. To John R's Response: "Um, not everyone who smokes gets lung cancer" You are right, but it sounds like you're in denial also. If it's not lung cancer, then it will be throat cancer or something else. Smoking is a HUGE risk factor that leads to a ton of diseases. Unless you are suicidal and really want to work on dying young, you've got to focus on keeping your body as healthy as you can and not abusing it. Not EVERYone who was exposed to the nuclear radiation in Hiroshima in WWII got sick and died, but would you want to expose yourself to nuclear radiation because of that
