What is the best health food bars - in your own opinion?
I am sending a care package overseas, and he is a health nut. No candy or pop. Also any other suggestions ?

Zone Perfect bars are great. 16 grams of protein is what drove me to these. No trans fat, low saturated fat. They taste great too, its like eating a candy bar thats good for you. The fudge graham are my favorite. You can buy in bulk at Costco at a really good price.

Apex. They are available at most gyms or at www.24hourfitness.com. I live by them and they have great flavor, not too dry like others i've tried. Low cal, high protein you cant go wrong. :)

Luna bars are made with all natural foods and they don't taste like crap! They are super yummy and healthy.

How do i go about telling my parents i want to be healthy? to get them to take me ta a health food store?
my mum thinks i'm anorexic because i've been losing fat. in reality, i've been maintaining my currents weight. now, i've come to realize how much junk i've been feeding my body and i'm sick of it. here are my two problems i would like help solving. A) how do i go and tell my parents i don't want to be fast food? B) how do i get my parents to take me to a health foods store? i'm 13 so i can't drive. how should i tell them these things?

Go grocery shopping with your parents when they go and pick out the healthy foods that you want. Your parents would really appreciate the extra help picking out more healthy foods and less junky food. Remember, more veggies and fruit, and less red meats!

Super Food is a name that I have always thought would be good. I have wanted to create a restaurant menu that features the super foods and healthy foods like blueberries, oatmeal, tomatos, almonds, avacado, etc. I have been eating a produce/protein intense diet for about four years and keep my weight very consistent. I stir-fry alot, cook in a crock pot, roast, and eat alot of raw food. I think your idea is a good one and people interested in serving healthy food should promote it. People don't realize that you can enjoy healthy food.

The name probably should be connected to the place's "hook" - for instance, if it a fruit juice spot, then use that in the name some how. If it is going to be serving all sorts of tofu dishes, then figure out a cute/funny/interesting way to factor that in. If it is southwestern or korean or french (or whatever), then factor that in.

Like it or not, they all have that same strange smell. It isn't appealing. And, while I am on the subject, why do most health food store employees look like they stepped right out of the time warp of the late 1960's???

Because health food stores carry a lot of vitamins and vitamins smell weird.

All of the packaged, faked, chemical, fatty foods of America have a certain smell. It is actually the bad smell, and the healthy stuff smells normal. Only you are so used to the s..t that you do not know the smell of healthy foods. that is sad.

Because of the vitamins . Vitamin B has a strange odor to it . Also since health food stores don't believe in preservatives or chemicals the food is naturally aging which gives off that smell . Most national grocery chain store ie: King Soopers Safeway smell like chemicals to me First if people look like they step out of the 1960's it because health food stores don't have any prejudices against people . I go to the Whole Foods in Denver Colorado located on Hampden Ave . The woman who worked there are gorgeous . They are not 60's left over either . Actually if you look at in health food stores and national grocery stores there is a significant weight difference . People at health food stores are within their weight ( healthy) people who shop else where are significantly overweight . Keep an open mind about health food stores it might save your life in the long run

For starters, how about why our schools exist to begin with. Good eating education should not be left in the Health class, just to introduce the students to ideas like catsup is a veggie serving. Then we move on to the health of our children. Over weight, pre-diabetic, nutritional deficiencies, and increasing high blood pressure. Then, we have to acknowledge that a hot nutritious lunch may be the only good meal of the day for many of our kids.

How about the obvious one: There is a huge number of obese kids in our country. Two elementary schools just did a study on this and found that the obesity number dropped quite a bit when they got rid of pop, junk food, etc.. Yahoo just did a story on it - search the internet for it. Another one, harder to prove though: Parents are so busy that it is more convenient to feed kids the fast foods, etc, go to dinner, etc....so it is helpful that kids will get educated on the good and bad foods in school as well as at home. Preventative measures for the rest of their lives and all..
